Just before the family moved to Curl Curl, I had an adventure which showed me just what a cool customer my mother was. When I was in my last year of primary school I came second last in the class in our final exams. My friend Marcy came last. An amazing woman, my mother. At the end of her life she was fully dedicated to saving as many animals as possible. One time she turned up in a well known Sydney fur shop clutching a baby kangaroo. When the shop assistant asked could she help my mother replied; “I just thought we might find his mother in here”.

I searched for a backpackers but couldn’t find one so decided to have coffee and a rest. While sitting on a high stool at the counter gazing out the window, deep in thought, I realised there was a rather peculiar looking guy staring at me. Our eyes met and within minutes he was standing by my side. “Are you into Gurdjief?” He asked. I was astounded. Read the rest of this entry »

For around twenty years I suffered from sleeplessness. Not just the occasional restless night, but serious insomnia. I tried everything from counting sheep to conventional M.D. prescribed drugs. Nothing worked for long and the side effects of the drugs were damaging enough to preclude them. The sheep got sleepy before I did, and a heap of money was wasted on herbal remedies which worked unreliably.

The Findhorn Community was started in 1962 by three people who had been trained to harmonize their will with that of God. They were known as Peter and Eileen Caddy and Dorothy Maclean. They came to Scotland in 1957 to manage the Cluny Hill Hotel in Forres. Eileen received guidance in her meditations from an inner divine source she called ‘the still small voice within’.
